The YME Creed

by George L. Shaw of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
YOUNG means I have the ability to realize my full potential. I have a sharp mind that awaits information to enhance my abilities. I have the potential to be an exceptional person as long as I remember that youth equals opportunity.

A successful MAN is what I want to be. What is a successful man? He is proud and responsible. He takes care of his family and is a good role model to others who follow in his shoes. I will succeed against all odds and strive to emulate some of the greatest men ever known: Martin Luther King, Jr., Benjamin Carson (neurosurgeon), and Cornel West (scholar).

EXCELLENCE means I always strive to be the best. Through excellence, I will achieve all my dreams and ambitions.

Why me? ... because I can be anything I want to be!
Why me? ... because I can be anything I want to be!
Why me? ... because I can be anything I want to be!
